Judy SalipanDr. Judy Salipan, Principal

Born in the Northern Philippines, I am a dedicated educator with 28 years of experience teaching Social Studies, Math, and Special Education. My journey has equipped me with strong leadership and organizational skills, honed during my tenure as a Program Coordinator and former Assistant Principal. I hold a bachelor’s degree in social studies from Saint Louis University, Philippines, as well as a Master of Arts in Education with a focus on Supervision and Administration, a master’s degree in special education, and a PhD in Development Administration. I am passionate about creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment that empowers both students and staff. My extensive knowledge and experience enable me to implement effective educational programs and foster collaboration among educators to enhance student outcomes. Outside of work, I prioritize staying fit and active, which helps me maintain the energy and enthusiasm necessary for a leadership role in education. I am committed to making positive changes and ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed.

Mrs. Theresa Lovato, Interim Assistant Principal

As a proud parent and now grandparent of Pojoaque Valley Schools, I have dedicated over 25 years to the district. During that time, I became an employee of the district, starting as an Instructional Assistant, and then becoming a sixth-grade teacher. I transitioned to middle school where I spent five years teaching math and AVID. For the last 11 years, I taught math, Financial Literacy, and AP Computer Science at the high school, where I also served as head of the math department. Additionally, I have worked with NMPED as a curriculum reviewer. This year, I’ve transitioned back to Pojoaque Valley Middle School to complete my internship with Mr. Vigil, and I can honestly say there is no place I would rather be. I earned my bachelor's degree from Northern New Mexico College and will complete my Master of Arts in Educational Administration from Eastern New Mexico University in May 2025. I have enjoyed my first experience in administration at Pojoaque Valley Middle School while strengthening my leadership skills. My goal is to continue mentoring and guiding teachers and students, ensuring effective communication, accessibility, and a safe, student-centered environment. It is an honor to work with the wonderful teachers, staff, students, and families of Pojoaque Valley Middle School and I look forward to watching the children from our valley grow into productive and successful members of our community.

❄️Holidays❄️

The Parent Advisory Committee provided holiday cheer to SGA/PVMS by giving students festive goodie bags, with students helping spread the joy through distribution.

During Teacher Spirit Week, teachers brought vibrant energy by wearing Hawaiian attire, creating a cheerful and welcoming atmosphere. Their colorful outfits fostered school pride and a sense of community, making the day a joyful highlight for everyone.

Online Resources

Reading Plus

There is a new Reading initiative between the 7th and 8th Grade English Department and the company, Reading Plus. This program will be part of our Response to Intervention (RTI) goals to help our scholars improve reading fluency, stamina, and comprehension. Please take a moment to review the information provided here to become more acquainted with this powerful tool designed to meet each individual’s scholar’s reading needs and interests. In addition, your scholar can access this website at home and continue to proceed through their individualized reading program. The more they do, the more improvements will be seen. Most scholars have completed the initial Insight assessment, and this information is available to you online. Please have your scholar log on at the following address, and select students. Their password is their Student ID number and their password is their last name.

Whooo’s Reading

Another great resource that we have been able to add to our Reading and Writing program is Whooo’s Reading- which is a free and improved version of Accelerated Reader. Students can access their account here:
Whooo’s Reading Log-In
Scholar usernames and passwords are unique to the program and have been handed out in card format. Students select an avatar and are able to personalize it as they progress. Teachers will be incorporating this activity into Book Talk grades, so you will want to become familiar with this website as well.

Imagine Math

This is a great resource that we have been using in the classroom once a week. I am encouraging students to use this at home too. There is an app they can download for their smartphone which makes it more accessible. They each have their username and password so they can log in.  As they log on and complete lessons this will count toward their class grade. I am also giving an award and a prize per 9-week grading period to the student with the most points and lessons passed.  Click here for this great Math Resource!
