Grades earned through on-the-job training, post-secondary institutions, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Correspondence School, and as a student aides will not be included in grade point average determination. Drivers education taken during the regular school day (7:45am - 2:45pm) will be awarded 0.5 of academic credit per semester. Drivers education taken after school through the Pojoaque Valley District will be awarded 0.25 of non-academic credit.

Class Rank is calculated by averaging all academic classes on a 4.0/5.0 scale. Non-academic courses are not averaged. For example: aides, concurrent classes, and correspondence classes are not included in the average.

Advanced Placement Courses

Courses Offered
There are currently (2000-2001 school year) seven Advanced Placement classes offered at Pojoaque High School. They include Chemistry, Calculus, U.S. History, English, Psycology, Environmental Science, and Art. The A.P. courses will be awarded ten extra points on our grading system.

Students' cumulative grade point averages will be tabulated by computer in a 5.0 scale in advanced placement classes and on a 4.0 scale in all other classes. Students for whom percentage grades will be calculated will include only those students first identified on the 4.0/5.0 scale as ranking among the top five in the graduating class.

AP Testing

Advanced Placement tests are given once a year. Those students who pass the test with at least a 3 (out of 5 possible points) are then granted colege/university credit as per the institution's regulations.
